The Water is Life Movement, also known as MAV, is a non-profit Civil Society Organization (OSC) (OSFL), which was founded on May 21, 1997 and operates in Brazil. MAV was born out of popular indignation at the health problems that plagued the time; where a group of people gathered after the death of a young woman who tried to stay at the General Hospital Clériston Andrade (HGCA), and for not having succeeded, she died. The group has been mobilizing from there to the present day; In 2001, with the threat of the privatization of EMBASA (water company), MAV mobilized the city of Feira de Santana, capturing signatures to prevent privatization from reaching the city and succeeded. Throughout the movement's history, 9 seminars, 2 conferences, 5 walks, 2 water pilgrimages and many other mobilization and awareness events were held; always focused on environmental education, which is one of the basic projects of the year in recent years.

Ecopontos are MAV partner establishments, which provide part of the space that resides, so that the community can deposit the used oil bottle in the determined area.
